BSI Honors Clients and Unveils New Strategic Initiatives at Annual CORE Summit: Building Champions

Guest Keynotes by Eagles GM Howie Roseman and Tugboat Institute Founder Dave Whorton Among Highlights

[LEHIGH VALLEY, PA] July 27, 2025 – Against the iconic backdrop of Bethlehem Steel, a historic symbol of America’s industrial strength and innovation, BSI Corporate Benefits (BSI) hosted its highly anticipated annual CORE event at ArtsQuest. This year’s theme, “Building Champions,” captured the spirit of the event, recognizing the power of resilience, collaboration, and purpose-driven strategy in transforming workplace culture and employee benefits. CORE 2025 delivered expert insights, real-world solutions, and bold thinking for navigating today’s complex healthcare and benefits landscape.

“BSI doesn’t just deliver strategy, they deliver results. And they never lose sight of what matters: people,” said Kelly Chando, Director of Development at St. Luke’s University Health Network and 2025 CORE Summit Emcee

Champion Strategy, Compliance, and Culture

That message of resilience and long-term thinking echoed powerfully throughout CORE 2025, brought to life by two powerhouse keynote speakers. Howie Roseman, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Philadelphia Eagles, delivered a dynamic talk on championship team-building, drawing sharp parallels between elite sports organizations and businesses navigating the business world today. His insights on leadership, culture, and sustained success resonated deeply with attendees.

Complementing Roseman’s keynote, Dave Whorton, Founder and Senior Advisor at the Tugboat Institute, made a compelling case for the “evergreen” business model, a framework built on independence, purpose, and long-term value over short-term wins. Together, their perspectives reinforced a powerful truth: in a world of constant change, the strongest organizations are those that stay grounded in their values and remain committed to the people and partners they serve.

Honoring Champion Partners

At the heart of BSI’s work is a simple belief: when organizations and consultants operate as true partners, real impact happens. That belief was front and center at this year’s CORE 2025 event, where BSI proudly recognized three standout clients with its annual Partnership Award, an honor that celebrates more than performance metrics. It recognizes shared values, trust, and the kind of collaboration that drives lasting change and success.

Take West Shore School District, a client since 2013, whose long-standing relationship with BSI has led to remarkable outcomes. In a sector where rising costs and limited resources are daily realities, West Shore has managed to maintain a 4.3% annual healthcare cost trend, engage 81% of employees in their HSA plan, and save over $1.8 million by implementing HealthiestYou, a telemedicine benefit. These results are no accident; they’re the product of thoughtful strategy, smart union negotiations, and a deep commitment to their employees’ well-being.

Environmental Waste Minimization Inc. (EWMI) has also proven the power of partnership. Over six years with BSI, EWMI has not only held an impressive 3.3% average renewal rate but also generated a $700,000 surplus, a direct reflection of disciplined planning and data-driven decision-making. Their rollout of the new BenefitsApp and employee-first pharmacy programs has provided them with a tool to easily access their benefit details, saving one employee up to $1,000 a year, demonstrating a leadership team invested in making benefits work better for their people.

Another four-year collaboration with BSI showcases how a fiscally responsible, human-centered strategy can drive both engagement and cost savings. At JULABO USA, 90% of employees actively engage with HealthiestYou, while a separate pharmacy savings strategy has delivered measurable cost reductions, providing real value that extends well beyond the bottom line.

In different industries and at different stages, these three organizations share a common thread: a belief in partnership as a strategic advantage, and a commitment to building better benefits not just for today, but for the long run.

“Strong client relationships are at the core of everything we do,” said Patti Nappi, Director of Client Relations at BSI. “These awards recognize how shared purpose and open dialogue drive long-term success, for both employers and their employees.”

Looking Ahead: Health Solutions Practice Launching January 2026 and Strengthened Compliance Offering

BSI officially announced the upcoming launch of its Health Solutions Practice (HSP), a game-changing initiative launching in January 2026. Led by Sarah Michaels, RN, CPBS, BSI’s Chief Clinical Officer, the HSP will deliver personalized member support and strategic provider engagement, helping employees navigate care more effectively. Clinicians, pharmacists, and contracting experts will act on behalf of the member, removing barriers and influencing care decisions to deliver better outcomes.

BSI also announced a strengthened collaboration with Benefits Compliance Solutions (BCS) to provide deeper expertise in employee benefits compliance. This partnership will allow BSI to offer comprehensive compliance gap analyses, helping employers assess risks and implement actionable strategies.

“Compliance issues sound kind of elementary, but they don’t just go away if you don’t deal with them. They compound over time,” said Sarah Borders, BSI’s Compliance Practice Lead.

Building Champions for the Future

In an era where employee experience, retention, and cost management are more critical than ever, Building Champions provided employers with the tools and insights to thrive.

“This event wasn’t just about where we are now,” said Shawn Hughes, EVP, Client Retention. “It’s about where we’re going, together, with partners who believe in doing benefits differently.”
